Lo Wu isn't too bad.. it can get busy but now HK/Macau SAR residents go through the automated checkpoints so it's swift for them. For us foreigners... the lines remain.
I did have a lady spend 20 minutes, with three other officials, on the China side of the Macau/Zhuhai gate checking my passport wondering what I was doing in Panama 4 years ago..... just a lot of inane crap but she was polite about it.. I just bit my lip and read the bombardment of text messages my friends on the other side were sending.
