I'll be traveling on a DCIR26 ticket in early March, routing JFK-LAX-AKL-CHC-SYD-HKG-CTU-(surface)-PVG-NRT-JFK.

There is a good chance that I will be needed in Istanbul the week following this trip and , if I do need to be there, I would want to just fly to IST from NRT.

Has anyone converted a circle fare into an explorer fare mid trip?

The way I see it, my travel to NRT would not have violated any DONE routing rules, so if I wanted to change the routing to:

JFK-LAX-AKL-CHC-SYD-HKG-CTU-(surface)-PVG-NRT-LHR-IST-LHR-JFK,

that would be a valid DONE routing, so it should be pretty easy.
