I've stayed twice at the New York Marriott Downtown (formerly Financial Center) and have got really good rates both times. It is expensive during the week (naturally) but sometimes has good weekend rates. The view of some is that it is too 'out of the way' but, with a subway about 1 block away which takes you directly to Times Square, I found it nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of it all.
