The thing that gets me the most here is the attitude of, "We'll make an exception for you, just this once."
Why does United, or any other airline, have to make us feel like they are doing something special when they are not? This is not a "one time only exception." This is their policy! And for them to act as though they are bending over backwards to accomdate you is just wrong.
