Are we not our brothers' keepers? By being polite and keeping quiet, we didn't help this woman at all. This was fifteen years ago and no doubt she is now either dead of suffering from heart disease.

I'm really grateful, too, as it was horribly embarassing and painful.
So you think the poor woman now has heart disease because no one confronted her right then and said that her weight broke a chair? Maybe the chair was defective and her weight had nothing to do with it. Maybe she eventually sued the shop owner and now owns a chain of ice cream shops!
