Not being a cruise expert, I can still say with some confidence that in addition to world cruises, "repositioning" cruises can lend themselves to partial itineraries. I.e., some ships ply a certain area of the world during one season, and a different area during another season. Possible example: Alaska during the summer and the Caribbean during the winter. The voyage between these two areas is a repositioning cruise.
