Weekend in SEA - Wow!
Mrs Hazmike needed a MR & we found cheapo tickets on NW. Since I had a $100 BB & a truckload of Marriottt points I bought $1000 of Marriott cheques & we headed off to the Seattle Marriott Waterfront this past weekend.
Nice hotel, less than a 10 min walk to the Pike St. Market...so, Fri night I called the front desk and ask if the CL is open for breakfast Sat. morning. "Oh, sure, but only 6 am - 9 am". While that sounded odd for a weekend, we took it as gospel. At 8:30 we headed for the CL. Oh, oh...closed. We had stayed in this property in late Oct & the CL was open for breakfast on the weekends...but this is low season.
I went to the FD and explained the conversation I had with xxxxx the night prior. They pulled up my folio & promptly advised that we were entitled to a full breakfast in the restraunt. We chose the buffet that included tiger prawns, omlets, thick-cut pepper bacon, steel-cut oatmeal, very nice indeed. All I paid for was a 5.00 tip both mornings.
Low season ends in mid-Feb. We 're going back in Jan...maybe for just the tiger prawns.
As an aside, there is an awfull lot of whining on this forum about how Marriott forgot about the customer, how Marriott screwed the customer, dirty rooms, no Plat benefits...you've all read them. Maybe so, but I've found that more often than not, a smile & manners go a long way in the travel business. I too have had issues with Marriott and in the old days, Hilton. But I've always found a way to work things out so that I was satisfied without acting like a four year old.
