I have a Dash and like it but it is a big step down in functionality from an MDA. The Dash runs the Smartphone version of WM and few programs will work on it and it doesn't have.a touchscreen. Its a nice phone with some PDA functions. The MDA is more of a PDA with a phone built it. If you want something like the MDA get the Wing as a direct replacement. For an major upgrade get an HTC TyTn or TyTNII.
Amazon also has the Wing - for $150 more than the Dash. But I have a Wing I got for $50 on the MS deal, and I can hardly wait until T-Mo goes 3G so I can replace it with a TyTnII. Things with Wings:
  • The screen is a little small to use it as a dash-mounted GPS
  • If you don't manage memory judiciously, it gets pretty slow
  • It doesn't have integral GPS (Wing and Dash can use a BT puck)
  • Its earphone connector is proprietary, necessitating an adapter
