How does one extract an unwilling LAN cable from a laptop without damaging the LAN port in the computer. The LAN cable I'm not at all worried about, its the expensive laptop that I want to keep using.

The LAN cable is sthe standard sort, with the rubber covering piece that shields the plastic clip that holds the cable into the computer. The plastic clip depresses all the way, but the plug will not budge from the LAN port. Are there any options other than violence and a Leatherman tool prying it out?
IS the clip worn so that when you press it fully, it's still not depressing all the way, forward of the tab? Do you have access to a small screwdriver to gently stick in above the tab to try and depress it further/farther forward of the tab? I can't really think of anything else that would be getting caught, keeping the cable in.
