Welcome to FT! As long as the airlines have a partnership, such as the CX/AA you mentioned, you should be fine. Keep in mind that some airlines have different rules on what fares you can get credit for or what fares offer elite qualifying miles (EQM) but, in general, you should be okay. Check with your airline for the particular rules.
