It's a big mess, hung on us by my ex-Mayor, Governor Lingle, who used her powers in a despotic fashion to push a pet project through, without a thorough foundation or basis.
She's a lame duck, we're left holding the money bag, but it's not going to bankrupt our state.
I was never a big fan of the Superferry, but never vehemently against it, either. I pretty much thought it was a bad idea and doomed to failure ever since the plan was first floated back in '04. (Mostly because I think the water is too rough and the ticket cost too high, so as to ultimately discourage large numbers of pax from using it.)
So I'm just not surprised. Dissapointed? Yeah, sure, a little; but mostly because people in the public trust really made a mess of things.
The money: sure it's a chunk, but you're correct, my intention was to show, in a humorous way, that a million people, hanging together sharing the burden can get out from under it without
too much hardship. (I certainly hope!) ^
(What are we gonna mess up next? The O'ahu rail system?)
