Upgrading on a single leg of multi-sector direct flight...?
Is it possible to use miles to upgrade a single leg of a multi-sector direct flight.

More specifically I'm looking to upgrade using miles just the HKG-BKK segment of EK38x that flies HKG-BKK-DXB even though I'm travelling all the way from HKG-DXB.

So it'll be HKG-BKK J
BKK-DXB Y

Can this be done on a single ticket without having to deplane at BKK?
