This happens in every country when competing airlines are able to offer the same destination via their home hub. Brits can fly LH or AF cheaper via FRA or CDG than BA from LHR...and Germans and French on BA via LHR. Nothing mysterious about it. You're paying a premium to flying nonstop, and the home carrier has a slight advantage. However, competitors can also offer cheaper fares and put you onto their onward flights at a marginal cost as they are topping up their home loads with passengers who originate in other countries and are willing to do the transt/connection. And of course, when it comes to flying in First Class and being able to fly SQ, BA, LH for less than your home carrier....why not!?
Thanks for the added information - However I think that this added premium as you mentioned does not justify at all the extra price - Specifically in F.
