I worked a flight to GRU where a passenger, before departure, complained about a stinky passenger. (the stinky one had just flown in from somewhere in Asia, so it was understandble. A very long day for him) He smelled horrible and a few people were refusing to sit. Because the flight was full, the agent came on and asked him to clean up in the lavs. I don't know why but perhaps because he opened up the shirt and really released the odors, when he came out of the lavs it was much worse!
The agent felt she had no choice except to take him off the plane. She got him a hotel, meal vouchers and rebooked him for the next night. We all felt bad for this guy but WOW, he really smelled terrible.

If I were not in a hurry, I would welcome a break in travel with an airline provided hotel and next day flight.
