Rejected submission

I received a post card from the JC Penny Docker promotion the other day stating that my submission had been rejected because I had not bought $125 worth of purchases. I carefully checked this before the submission and checked it again after I got the card. There is no doubt that I spent enough. The post card doesn’t give any information about resubmissions, phone numbers, addresses, etc. Even though I knew I would not get through I called the concierge number a couple of times, and didn’t get through.

I am not sure why they rejected the submission unless they just could not decipher the receipt, or are just bad at math. The only other possible reason they could have rejected it for this reason was that I bought a pair of Docker shoes (though you cannot really tell that from the receipt). Maybe they will tell me that shoes are not apparel. I beg to differ. First the exclusions are on the form, and shoes are not on the list. Second, if I remember correctly they had a poster about the promotion with forms in the shoe department. I am curious? Did anyone else use a shoe purchase toward meeting their $125?

So, I am planning on writing a letter and including copies of the receipts with calculations. I hope that will do the trick. If you read the terms and conditions it does states that disputes on claims go through arbitration through a district court in CA. I hope that is not their only dispute mechanism. I can’t imagine they would be eager to go that route for one voucher.
