Hehe....

This thread reminded me of the one I posted not too long ago...asking about having wine as checked baggage on Delta......as I should post a follow up about my experience with traveling with boxes of wine as checked baggage.

In my case, the agent at the counter in SJC asked me what was in the 2 boxes that I was checking.

Both were the 6 bottle 'wine shippers' (a cardboard box with styrofoam insert)....which I picked up while in the Bay area.

After I told him I was taking back some wine and that the bottles were packaged in appropriate packaging.......he simply affixed the baggage tag, some 'special' tape to indicate that the box was traveling as 'Delta Checked Baggage' and a bright colored 'fragile' sticker.

FWIW, the TSA apparently opened only one of the 2 boxes....as the 'special' tape had been slit and a 'TSA courtesy card' was left in the box on top of the styrofoam insert.

All of my bottles made it back to NYC intact.
