yes it's for status points, for BA.
it's sth like the following (but not sure if I'm 100% right, but from my memory):
AAdv, award miles: full Y (100%), J (125%), F (150%)
AAdv, status miles: full Y, J, F (all 150%)
BA, award miles: Y (100%), prem Y (125%), J (150%), F (200%) - I think if you're paying full Y you actually could get prem Y already
BA, status "points": Y (100%), prem Y (125%), J (200%), F (300%) - this "100%" etc "points" are not directly calculated from miles traveled though...but if you just asking whether F gets 3x status credits vs. Y, yes...
well, but anyway, I think it's a consensus already for long that CX's status is harder to get than AA's, BA's, etc...so it's probably not the point of argument here anymore...
