If CO is really contemplating putting 9 across on the 787, this would mean that the coach seat would be about 1.78 inches narrower, or about 15.5 inches wide. That seems hard to believe, frankly. Currently, the narrowest coach seat in long haul coach is 16.5 inches on ANA.
Also, let us not forget the possbility of innovative seating (such as that designed by Thompson Solutions and others) that could allow nine accross without a reduction in seat width.
