A few years ago I was on a DL flight ATL-MXP. I had ordered kosher meals (but only because they are better than the usual Y fare -- not out of religious motivation).

On the other side of the aisle there was a religious couple (with her being so pregnant that I was suprised she was flying). For some reason, the husband's was given a kosher meal but the wife's record did not show that she had asked for one.

They were furious and kept telling the FA that there was no way a pregnant woman could be expected to fly all the way across the Atlantic without eating. (Oddly, enough, the husband did not offer to give his meal to his wife.)

I told the FA to give her my meal and to bring me the usual dinner instead. The woman thanked me profusely. About 10 minutes later the FA returned and said that there was an open seat in First and I was invited to take it.

That's when the story hit the height of chutzpah, even for Israelis. Both the husband and wife complained to the FA that they should have been upgraded, not me, as it was her kosher meal which was not served!
