Forcing independent coffee shops out of business? Quite the contrary.
- Starbucks serves as a transition or gateway product to the independents. They expand the market, introducing more consumers to high end coffee purchasing which creates a larger customer base for independents.
- The number of independent coffee shops have been on the rise, not declining as Starbucks has grown.
