I noticed corp travel booked me into a BUA fare ORD-EWR on Monday, UA642. Having not booked into this before, I looked up the info on united.com (http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,51071,00.html). It says:

"Tickets booked through United channels will have the upgrade automatically requested.

Tickets that have not been booked at united.com or United Reservations must be requested through United Reservations."

My MP number is in the reservation and it shows up in my itineraries on united.com. Do I need to call them up? What would I tell the person on the phone?
