DC isn't exactly on the coast as I'm sure you know since you live in Silver Spring. That's a huge reason I left College Park 10 years ago; I couldn't stand that there is no easy way to get to the Atlantic. The only option you really have are Chesapeake Bay beaches and the only one I've been to is Sandy Point. I didn't like it. The best beaches I found were in Delaware....nice soft sand, zero sales tax, and you don't get the gruesome scene which is Ocean City.
