Downtown Chicago’s first attempt at an all-night party drew twice as many people as expected, organizers said.
An estimated 200,000 people packed stores, theaters, restaurants and bars during Looptopia, which kicked off at 5 p.m. Friday at various locations throughout the Loop and ended at 8 a.m. Saturday.
“We underestimated the crowd size a bit,” said Ty Tabing, executive director of the Chicago Loop Alliance, organizers for the first-time event that cost $1 million to host.
