You might have some luck, because if I was boarding a plane to AMS (from either EWR or IAH...doesn't matter), and I saw a bassinet next to me, I would do everything possible to try and move to another seat.

No offense, but the thought of sitting next to some kid for 6-12 hours just isn't my cup of tea! I'm sure that many others feel the same, so viola, you might have an instant free seat next to you!
