Oneworld RTW Fare (continued from United thread)
I just wanted to continue this thread in the right place? Now where is that Oneworld Forum when you need it?
3544quebec: I was a little confused as to why not all the segments were used up in each continent (always looking for ways to maximize miles!)--I know it might be difficult to find a Oneworld carrier with enough carriage rights on some continents, e.g. Africa only used 3 of 4 and South America only used 2 of 4,
but on Southwest Pacific--only used 3 of 4 segments (or did you intend to go back to Sydney from Cairns before going on to Auckland--there are no Oneworld flights CNS-AKL?).
North America only used 2 of 6 segments-- I know it says that you can only do one transcon in N. America and only stops allowed in continent of origin are in intercontinental arrivals and gateways--with a stop defined as 24 hours or more, that gives you lots of leeway with the schedules in North America. This would add more points and probably some pleasure.
OK:
Europe used 4 of 4 (incl 2 of 2 to Middle East)
Asia used 5 of 5
Last question -- do "real world" flight schedules allow you to do this without going over the 3 maximum stopovers allowed per continent?
It would be great if Star Alliance would use this segment based method.
