Had similar experiences at the LHR and ORD Flagship Lounges traveling with an AA employee a while back. She was in street clothes (her job didn't involve wearing a uniform) and had very pleasant chats with the desk staff. No problem at all with her being there as a guest, at least at that time (and also technically not at ACs).
