Sadly, if your vacation takes you to a "resort" property, you are not guaranteed a free continental breakfast, due to the resort exclusion of that benefit. However, you will have a better chance of a room upgrade if you check in with a gold status, and some resorts will give you a free continental breakfast (with an opportunity to pay extra for a full breakfast). It never hurts to ask about breakfast at a resort.
Thanx for this information. I was Hilton Gold for many years and was very successfull with getting upgrades to the Exec floor and/or free breakfast. But in summer I will ask Marriott Rewards to put a note in my reservation as you suggested. "Unfortunately" we will be staying at a resort (Hutchinson Island, FL) but a nice room would also do it

But I am not expecting too much as there is a higher rate of golds and plats in the U.S. than in Europe or Asia (I felt that upg as aHilton Gold even to suites happened more often outside the U.S.).
