Was always amazed that it was located in such a low end hotel (not even a HI).
I stayed at this hotel in the first few weeks after its opening (last-minute trip when all center-city hotels were booked for a mega-convention). The hotel was built for another company, and was re-flagged before it even opened, and was re-flagged again as the HI Select.
The HI Select is a group-within-the HI group that is supposed to denotes the better range of HI properties (those not quite at the Crowne Plaza level). I've stayed in a few, for example, the HI Select at SEA is not all that great, while the HI Selects in DT Philadelphia and near PVD airport were actually very good (both of them have been promoted to Crowne Plaza status).
As for the food at Harry Caray's, it has always had an Italian-influence steak-and-chop house menu. This statement is from their website:
Harry Caray's is a unique
combination of a classic Chicago
steakhouse and traditional
Italian restaurant. We proudly
serve only the finest prime, aged
steaks and chops.
