Good question. If the employee is authorized to use that entrance there has to be rules against using her badge to let other unauthorized folks through. She could have just as easily let someone way more nefarious than Gore through.
I'm not saying Al Gore did anything wrong here. The article just said he was involved, not that he was responsible.
