Targetted Promotions
What are people's feelings on thes?.
Mine is that they are perfectly legitimate, but that in this age of internet bulletin boards, they had better tailor them pretty narrowly, or just make them available for everyone to avoid feelings of some of their better customers getting hurt.
In the past few months, some prett generous targetted promotions went out from my airline and hotel programs of choice- CO and SPG, respectively.
I got zero targetted promotions from either one. It seems like CO's were tailored more narrowly, but judging from the response on the Starwood board, it seems like those in the FT audience who did recieive a promotion far outnumber those who did not.
In such a circumstance, does the goodwill engendered from those targetted outweigh the "hurt feelings" (others' words, not mine)of the apparent minority not targetted for anything?
Also, why target most, but not all? Does this make any sense?
