I told in several threads and forums my opinion about Loewenbräu. My choice would be the Augustiner... Now, after I read from different Americans and other foreigners how much they like Loewenbräu, I know why they still survive. Most Germans (except of those who are fans of 1860 Muenchen ) would never touch Loewenbräu
I've had Spaten, Franziskaner, Paulaner, Augustiner, and Loewenbrau, and I'm not sure I could reasonably rank them (I thought all were good) though I liked Franziskaner the least. I would also say that I much prefer LB dunkel to the "regular" LB (is that weiss?). I guess I'll go on in blissful ignorance, and no one will have trouble spotting the foreigner in restaurants when I order an LB dunkel...

I would rank any of those above most American beers (though I am partial to some microbrews here in Arizona).

Man, I just got back two days ago and I'm ready to go over again for some more beer... ^
