course that's more like $4-500 these days, not 3 grand.
Unfortunately, a lot of the software that I run isn't available for Mac, nor am I in a position to replace the 6 other computers on my home LAN and all the software that I use on them for a platform change because I'm not thrilled with the initial release of Vista. For what it's worth, Vista is now ticking like a clock except for (1) the NIC issue, which will go away when I get a docking station for the SZ -- it has a built-in gigabit nic, and (2) the copy-across-the-network-slowness issue that, I suspect, will be resolved by a patch or, at worst, Service Pack 1. For the interim, if I have big files or a lot of files, I can just ftp 'em across the network, which is lightning fast.
