The one I'm using right now is a Dlink Airplus 900 AP+, about 2-3 years old. Works as an Access Point, wireless repeater, OR as a wireless adapter with an ethernet connection to the host PC. I use it in the last mode, as I can attach a directional 10db gain antenna to it and "reach" from my guest cottage to an access point in my house. Not the most portable in the world, as it runs off AC power, but it does work very well.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of this device. Any recommendations for something similar? I really liked the USB power thing as it kept me from being tied to a bridge plugged in to the wall. I'd love to have one of these in my bag of tricks for future use!
