I'm a regular at a local pub named
Lucky Baldwin's. It's a British pub that serves Belgian beer. Lucky's boasts one of the largest Belgian beer selections in the United States. (The beer menu on the website is a little dated, but it'll give you an idea as to what they typically serve.)
This year's annual Belgian Beer festival is starting on Saturday, February 10th and runs through Sunday, February 25th. It's a great time! Although they always have an impressive selection of Belgians, they've got some even more unique beers at this time of year. I was thinking that this event would be a great reason to hold a DO!
So, if any of y'all out there are interested, I propose that I organize my first-ever Do around this occasion. I'm thinking of holding it on the weekend of February 24th, provided there are sufficient (positive!) responses to this proposal. (I can't make it the weekend of February 10th and I'll be in New Orleans, Louisiana, to celebrate
Mardi Gras on the weekend of February 17th!)
If you're interested, please respond with a day and time preference. Saturday or Sunday? Afternoon or evening or late night? Lucky's is readily acessible from Metro's
gold line; it's about a 5-minute walk from both the Memorial Park and Del Mar stations. If people can't get together on the dates, I propose, I suggest that y'all go there anyways. As, I said, it's a good time. And, being a regular, I
will get my chance to enjoy the festival!
Just keep in mind that Belgian beers are pretty strong. ~7-10% alcohol by volume is typical and a few run up to ~13% or 14%! And, realize that this may ultimately ruin your appreciation for whatever bland beer you drink at your local pub!
