If the DFW-ORD segment is to position yourself for DTW, you could consider something like this instead, preserving a CX transcon - LHR-YVR-JFK-MIA-DTW//DFW-ANC-DFW-LAS//LAX-SYD, buying a one-way ticket between DTW and DFW. Most days, the cheapest one-way ticket between DTW and DFW is actually via ORD and STL, so you'd get some extra TP for those hops too.

That said, you've had good advice about making the ticket work for you rather than the other way around.
