My company manages the IFE content for American Airlines, along with many of the top tier airlines today. Each airline makes its own decisions concerning censorship of audio and video content. We implement those decisions when we encrypt the content for release.
The actual censored passages are removed by humans and not merely by software filters. There is a great amount of post-production that goes into formatting a video for airline use. Each airline has their own standards (QF is rather lenient, AA is rather conservative).
I hope this bit of information is helpful.
Great information....so it seems our question really should be directed at CO after all. So, did CO specifically request the word "God" be removed from "The Queen", or is the word "God" on their permanent IFE blacklist?
Interesting to find out from that referenced post that CO is not the only airline that seems to find the word "God" offensive and worthy of censuring
