Sorry for any misunderstanding, but in past Langkawi visits we had stayed at the Sheraton near the LGW airport. Probably opted for this property as previous Bangkok departures required overnighting in Penang both coming to and leaving Langkawi.
Last weeks Westin (formally Sheraton Perdana) stay was our first, although we enjoyed it so much we’re already booked it again for October. Perhaps not so many Russians/Ukrainians then.
Although it was obvious that the Westin had recently undergone renovation, can’t compare to previous, but rooms are the same size (as stated by the day manager who I sat down with and comlemented his property) as before, but they’ve installed 42” plasma TV and DVD’s. The bathroom has a rain shower and the balcony (as an SPG Gold we were located on the 4th floor, pool side view) has an overhead fan to relax and watch the sunset.
We only ate breakfast at the hotel so can’t comment on the restaurant you mentioned. Tried both seafood restaurants near Eagle Square as well as the Fish Farm Restaurant. Although Fish Farm better then the other 2, when compared to what Thailand offers, we’ll stay in LGW but eat in Thailand! If you find a good place, please let us know since we’re going back. Heard about Wonderland, but it was closed on Friday.
My wife tried to use the spa, but it’s still not open. Informed in about another 2-months.
The airport lounge pretty basic, but when flying on a LCC you can almost bet it will be late by the afternoon so having a place to “hide” was welcomed. They do have Internet access, but orange juice at RM 10.
We’ll be in KL next month, but opt for the Hilton. Also scheduled for LeMeridien in KK next July before LGW again in October.
