I believe that each person is entitled to recline as they wish but my beef with the "recliners" is often in how the recline is done. I have been hit in the head (when I happened to be leaning forward at the wrong time), had drinks spilled and had a laptop trapped between my tray and the seat in front when the recline is done too abruptly. If you want to recline - fine - just push the button and slowly lean back. This way the violent motion doesn't jostle anything on my tray and I can move my body parts and laptop out of the way. The second point I'd make is that once reclined the seatback often stays that way even if the person sitting there gets up for the lav, or has to lean forward to eat. I just try to have an awareness that bringing my seat forward dramatically improves the conditions for the person sitting behind me. I recline to sleep and bring my seat at least part way forward to eat or do the crossword and all the way forward if I leave my seat.
