Now, now, hang on a second. I think
MKEbound might be on to something. Like AA, FT is indeed a support group for those of us who have trouble saying "no" to our addiction. We just measure that addiction in miles instead of months and days, our families and friends think we have a serious problem with wanting miles and status, and we each have many sponsors at FT to turn to when things get rough. The only real differences between FT and AA (other than the whole alcohol bit) are:
- while we admit we have a problem, we
don't want to change
- we can convert our personal inventory into magazine subscriptions or charitible donations whenever we want
- we turn our airborne lives over to a higher power (dressed in TSA whites) whether we like it or not
- said higher power therefore tends to piss us off
But the premise is basically the same - we are among like-minded souls supporting one another to a common end: bending the system to our will.
*Note: no disrespect is intended towards AA or any of its members.
