Word of advice for all:

Keep you cash and credit cards very safe. In cities like Kolkata, Mumbai and many others pick pockets are galore.
Don't be alone on the streets very late at night.
Try not to be left alone in any place. If few people are around its always better.
Never leave your baggage and expensive stuff like camera, laptop etc, unattended.
