My favorite along these lines, slightly ot to this thread, are the news anchors (usually in smaller markets

) who close the broadcast in this way,
"And now on behalf of Joe and Mary, I am Bill wishing you a pleasant good evening."
Two questions: 1. Who were you before "now"? 2. What does it mean to be someone on someone else's behalf?
