Since the one AL Pho restaurant is hundreds of miles from me, I'm glad I decided to try it in CA and not wait for a drive to Mobile. I stumbled into a place in Milbrae last night while getting gas before I turned in the rental car at SFO. I was the only non-asian in the place and took that as both a recommendation and invitiation to the exotic. I ordered Bun ?? with cold noodles and 2 kinds of pork. Very good. Given my aversion to organ meats and other garbage cuts, I can't believe I selected an anonymous dish from a menu featuring tripe, tendon and "mixed meat" - imperial roll turned out to be very greasy and full of mystery meat. I stuck to the tea, but was fascinated by the other drink options, like "salty lemonade" or "soda with evaporated milk". Next time, maybe.
