I think many of your points are valid. I have a number of friends who are BA or more likely now ex-BA. Five years ago they were proud to be working for BA, now the ones that are still there don't have a good word to see about their employer and any mention of wee Willie is likely to start a tirade of abuse.
A few years ago I used to fly a lot with BA and I was often invited to feedback sessions that were hosted by BAEC and usually some of the directors. They always used to ask "What is the most important thing that BA can do to make your flight more comfortable?" and every time I gave the same answer - it's the crew that make the flight enjoyable or horrendous and everyone would nod sagely - shame they didn't listen
