Had to comment on this property, as I live just south of Portland and have stayed here before, along with using this hotel for several large conferences I've planned. It was originally a Shearton, then Red Lion, now DT. The smaller rooms are in the original building, larger rooms are in the newer tower. What's great about this property for meetings is on the MAX Light Rail line from PDX. It's 1 block to Lloyd Center (huge shopping complex), and a light rail ride (free too!) to downtown Portland. Portland once had 4 DT's - one was indeed downtown on the south end, and two north along the Columbia River (DT Jantzen Beach and DT Columbia River). One is now shuttered, the other has reverted back to a Red Lion. I like this property for large meetings and conferences, but will be looking at downtown this fall for a '07 meeting. People would like a change! Probably the Hilton Portland if I have a say! Enjoy your stay! Welcome to Portland and Oregon!
