Strike Authorization Vote Set for Hawai’i, Chicago and San Francisco
Just a big heads up to anyone with a stay at the HHV in the very near future.
Some background info: As of June 30, unionized workers at the Hilton Hawaiian Village (housekeepers, GSAs, etc) have been working without a contract. The hotel and the Local Union 5 have been working on hammering out a contract, but it looks like things aren't going too well--or there hasn't been substantial progress.

Representatives of the hotels and UNITE HERE! Local 5, the union representing 2,500 workers at the Sheraton and 1,600 at the Hilton HawaiianVillage, met Monday and Tuesday and are scheduled to resume talks next week.
Union members are scheduled to vote at the Neal Blaisdell Center on whether to authorize a strike.
