Just to give this some context, I was in Haifa in 1993 during the time of what was called "Operation Accountability" in English. It involved a lot of artillery firing into South Lebanon. I was standing at a lookout by the University of Haifa, and could hear the shelling quite well. At the time I was at least 25 miles from the guns.
