I stopped chasing the SPG plat arrival points a long time ago. I don't have quite as bad a track record of them (not) posting, but I'd say it was in the 50% range.
I bailed from SPG this year and now with Marriott. However, it was due to uniformity of room quality and lifetime status, not point posting issues. With Marriott, I know that I'll get a quality room. SPG's 4 points and sheratons were a roll of the dice. And Marriott is the only hotel chain that offers lifetime status.
