I would recommend using a SkyChoice award for coach class at 60,000 miles and then standing by for first class. Depends how much you really want to be SURE that you're up front. You can clear first class this way, but it requires that you have high Medallion status. The good news about this method would be that you would no longer have to call in every 14 days. Your waitlist would be in place until your flight.

I've done this before. Just tell them that you want a First Class award, but to apply it towards SkyChoice until you clear the award. Sometimes it takes a few agents to find one that will do this right for you.
