That's true if he wants the miles to be credited on a FB account, but probably not if he is with another Skyteam FFP.
Incidentally, on the AF code-share (QF operated) part of the kangaroo route, most often than not miles do not post automatically on FB. Also, you cannot get preassigned seats because AF does not have access to QF seat map, and QF cannot touch your file before you've checked in with them.
