I did a quick search, but there were no central threads on going through w/socks and flip flops (it will look dorky as anything, but I'd rather look weird than step in...whatever is on that floor).

There's a joke in there somewhere about a guy concerned about what's on the floor and his name is Matt.

They say that 'thinly soled flip-flops' work. They do work in most of the airports, but there will likely be a rogue TSAer who will tell you to remove them as well.
